| Hamilton looks back on well over a century of precision making and a history of innovation. The American brand's watches already introduced accurate timekeeping to the American railroads int he 1890's. In 1919 a Hamilton aeronautical watch accompanied the very first American airmail postal services, and the 1940's saw the world's first marine chronometers, manufactured by Hamilton. Even the first digital watch ever produced came from Hamilton.
But possibly the hero of the heroes is the Hamilton Ventura; the world's first electric watch launched in 1957. A dedicated team spent ten years making their dream of an electrical, battery-powered, watch come true and it heralded a new era of technology. With its distinctive shape appealing to stylists, the Ventura made the first of its many Hollywood appearances on the wrist of Elvis Presley in the 1961 production, "Blue Hawaii".
